Salem has been a stylist in West Seattle since 2012. After attending the Aveda Institute in 2007, she was inspired by Ayurveda and her family's use of plants for healing. After 16 years working in salons and educating future stylists, she became aware of the beauty industry's significant waste contribution, with salons adding around 877 tons of waste to landfills and the ocean every minute.

  Salem envisioned a salon that sets a new standard for beauty professionals, focusing on inclusivity, transparency, and sustainability. She believes in using products that fully disclose their ingredients, support fair trade, and practice ecological harvesting for the benefit of future generations.

  At The Stone Fox Salon and Spa, they recycle 90-95% of beauty waste, including single-use items like gloves and foils. The salon carries Eufora, a plant-based, woman-owned product and color line. Eufora uses Aloe and other healing plants, with low- or no-ammonia colors, essential oils, and no hidden chemicals. Vegan and gluten-free, Eufora started in 1997 alongside Aveda and has since become a world-renowned high-end brand.
